Pindi imposes water restrictions in the middle of the drought

Rawalpindi:

The worsening of drought and a reduction of 42% of precipitation made the groundwater levels drop to Rawalpindi at a critical depth of 800 feet.

In response, the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Climate Change has imposed an immediate ban on the use of boring tube wells, wells and water for the construction of buildings, houses and places.

Offenders will face a fine of 10,000 rupees, the ministry said.

In addition, strict guidelines have been issued to close all illegal and not approved service stations.

To enforce these measures, the Department of Environmental Protection and Climate Change, Rawalpindi and Sanitation Agencies (WASA), municipal companies and district councils began operations against car washing stations .

The authorities have issued official opinions to the 3,500 service stations in the city of Rawalpindi, the district council areas and the entire division, asking them to voluntarily comply with the new restrictions by February 28.

The repression will begin on Monday, with a separate operation targeting the installations of the water recycling system from March 3.

Immediate measures will also be taken to prevent unnecessary waste of water.
