Leaders of the opposition alliance held a public rally in Pishin on Monday, expressing concern over the country’s political situation and announcing a national movement to safeguard democratic values and constitutional order. Speaking at the rally, Mahmood Khan Achakzai, head of the Movement to Protect the Constitution in Pakistan, stressed that public mandate must be respected and warned that any deviation from constitutional principles could lead to further instability. He announced a series of protests across the country to defend citizens’ rights, adding that all nationalities must enjoy equal rights and equal representation within the federation. Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, addressing the gathering, said leaders must remain accountable to the people and decisions must be taken through transparent and democratic processes. He highlighted concerns about governance practices and called for greater inclusion of public opinion in policymaking. Afridi stressed the importance of resolving issues in Balochistan and KP through dialogue and constitutional means. Other speakers at the event echoed similar views, calling for respect for democratic norms, political freedoms and institutional balance.
