We patiently count on the days to the window of the Big Google Pixel 10 on August 20, and before the launch event, there is a rumor that the Pixel 10 Pro Fold will be the first foldable to launch with an IP68 rating for protection against dust and water.
This comes from Winfuture, in an article where most of the technical details of the handset are presented, and it is the IP68 note that really stands out. No other foldable on the market can match it, not even the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 classified IP48.
An IP68 phone is completely protected against dust, and is also waterproof: the exact definition depends on the phone and the manufacturer, but being able to survive for 30 minutes in the water at a depth of 1.5 meters (almost five feet) is typical.
The Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold offers IPX8 protection, such as foldables such as Motorola Razr 50 Ultra: this means a high level of sealing, but no guarantee that dust and dirt spots are not found in the case.

Of course, a foldable phone with a flexible screen and a hinge have very specific challenges when it comes to keeping dust and water, and it will be completely the feat if Google has managed to make the Pixel 10 arises at the required standard.
