“PM and DC policy allows the recording of the honorary diploma”

Islamabad:

In response to the media report of the recording of the honorary diploma by the president of Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PM & DC), Dr. Rizwan Taj, the Council published the explanation on Thursday, claiming that the recording of the honorary diploma was not in violation of PM & DC policies.

In an explanation published by the Council, he declared that, according to the PM & DC policy formed on May 13, 2018, if a person has a qualification of level III, the honorary diploma can be recorded. Registration is only for record purposes for academic advantages.

According to documents available at PK Press Club, it is clearly mentioned in the minutes of July 17, 2019 and the DC meeting that the Council cannot record any honorary diploma.

It is relevant to mention that the President of the Prime Minister and DC, Dr. Rizwan Taj, had recorded his own honorary diploma in violation of council policies. Development has triggered indignation within the medical community, experts appealing it a blatant improper use of authority and a direct attack on the credibility of the regulatory organization.
