PM calls for urgent damage reports in regions struck by floods

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has ordered damage assessments in the floods are completed in an emergency.

He chaired an exam meeting via a video link from New York on the recent flood situation and continuous rescue and rehabilitation efforts immediately after his speech to the United Nations General Assembly.

The PM Shehbaz stressed that estimates of damage to cultures and infrastructure should be completed as soon as possible to allow effective rescue and rehabilitation planning.

The Prime Minister ordered the acceleration of rescue and rehabilitation operations for people affected by floods. He said that we will not rest as long as the inhabitants of the areas affected by the floods are completely rehabilitated. He asked the Minister of Planning Ahsan IQBAL to closely monitor rescue and rehabilitation operations and to hold regular examination meetings.

Prime Minister Shehbaz ordered the President of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) to provide complete cooperation to the provincial disaster management (PDMA) provinces.

He ordered the National Highway Authority to flourish the restoration work on the part affected by the M-5 floods near the Sutlej river. The breach on the Jalalpur Pirwala motorway should be repaired immediately.

The Prime Minister asked to take all the necessary measures to prevent water from water. He said special measures should be taken to cultivate appropriate crops in areas affected by floods.

Prime Minister Shehbaz said he had raised the voice of the Pakistanis affected by the negative impacts of climate change at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). He said that a developing country like Pakistan is continuously affected by natural disasters caused by climate change.

The provincial Minister of Information and Culture, Uzma Zahid Bukhari, recently said that the new rescue package includes direct remuneration for farmers, households and breeding owners. The affected farmers will receive 20,000 rupees per acre, while families whose houses have been destroyed will be paid RS1 million for a complete loss and 500,000 rupees for partial damage. RS500,000 remuneration has also been allocated to livestock loss.

According to official figures, the floods had an impact on more than 4.7 million people, including 2.6 million and losses of more than 2.1 million cattle. About 27 districts and 4,794 villages along the belts of rivers were affected, with more than 2,213 rescue and rescue teams deployed on the ground.
