“PM deliberately delaying the appointment of the CEC”

Islamabad:

The PTI required the immediate initiation of the process of appointing a new election commissioner (CEC). He claims that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif deliberately delays the process despite the fact that the duration of the outgoing CEC, Sikandar Sultan Raja, expired two months ago.

The central PTI information secretary, Shafi Jan, published a statement requiring the government to initiate the process without further delay.

He said that the Pakistan Electoral Commission (ECP) is a constitutional institution and that the appointment of its new chief is crucial. However, the Prime Minister and his allies are determined to violate and lack respect for the Constitution.

He said that the CEC’s name process should be completed under article 213.

Jan said the Prime Minister had not yet contacted the opposition chief on this subject, despite the fact that the opposition chief of the National Assembly Omar Ayub has already written a letter to the president of the National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq to fill the key position.

“There has not yet been a response to the training request for a parliamentary committee. The delay in this process clearly explains the intentions of the Prime Minister and its allies.”

He said the government wanted to keep “a biased puppet” “.

“The government seeks to achieve its malicious objectives through the current CEC. We demand that the illegitimate Prime Minister launch the process of named a new CEC. Otherwise, we will carry the case before the courts,” the statement added.
