PM ensures investor facilitation as Pakistan, China signs $ 4.2 billion in commercial pacts under CPEC 2.0

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif assured Chinese investors on Thursday to remove all paperwork hiccups in investment procedures while Pakistan and China companies have signed 21 understanding of $ 4.2 billion in different fields.

The Prime Minister unveiled a new bold vision of Pakistani-Chinese economic cooperation, announcing the official launch of the Chinese-Pakistan economic corridor “CPEC 2.0” during his opening speech during the second B2B Pakistan-China investment conference in Beijing.

Welcoming high -level delegates, he described the forum as the reflection of the brotherhood dressed in iron between Pakistan and China.

Responding to concerns about bureaucratic delays, the Prime Minister has published a clear and direct message: “We will not tolerate the delay of a second. I recently watched that a Chinese entrepreneur is facilitated within 24 hours. This is the level of engagement I speak of.”

He reassured the Chinese delegation of Pakistan’s unshakable commitment to the facilitation of investors, declaring that Chinese investors will be treated as partners and that “Pakistan is your second house, just like China is ours”.

Security of Chinese nationals in Pakistan, he said an absolute priority, adding: “The security of Chinese citizens is essential.

“This is one of the largest commercial conferences I attended during my visit to this large country.

Our relationship with China is unequaled, higher than Himalayas, deeper than the deepest oceans, sweeter than honey and stronger than steel, “said the Prime Minister.

Referring to the CPEC agreement signed in 2015 during the Historic Visit of President Xi Jinping in Pakistan, Prime Minister Shehbaz awarded the first phase of the CPEC to transform the Pakistan energy and infrastructure landscape.

“We were confronted at 20 hours of power outages per day. Today, thanks to the dynamic and visionary leadership of President XI, Pakistan has become self-sufficient. It was the turning point,” he noted.

The Prime Minister announced the launch of CPEC 2.0, which will focus on business investments in businesses (B2B) in agriculture, IT and AI, minerals and industrial relocation.

“Our agricultural sector employs 60% of our population. China has excelled in this area, and we are looking for your partnership to modernize our agricultural practices and increase exports,” he urged Chinese investors.

He highlighted the role of special economic zones (ZES) in the investment attraction, offering competitive advantages such as labor and qualified joint ventures to produce high quality export products.

In a segment emotionally responsible for his speech, Prime Minister Shehbaz told his first visit to China in 1982. “Even at the time, I said that China suffered from success, no failure. Today, China is the second economy and a world military power, having withdrawn more than 700 million people from poverty.

“This is the model I want to borrow and reproduce in Pakistan,” he said.

He congratulated the leadership of President XI in the promotion of multilateralism and shared prosperity, claiming that China has changed the destinations of many nations, a testimony of its “visionary and dynamic leadership”.

In his closing remarks, he reiterated his determination to transform the economic landscape of Pakistan.

“We know that the path is difficult, but not impossible. With the support of China and our commitment, we will make Pakistan a strong and dynamic economy. That the brand today the start of this trip.”
