Islamabad:
On Friday, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif inaugurated the newly built Murrier Road Ninnah Square, a large infrastructure project completed in a record period of only 35 days. The Prime Minister praised it as an important national initiative which will guarantee fluid and uninterrupted connectivity to the popular tourist destination of Murrier.
Speaking during the inauguration ceremony, Prime Minister Shehbaz praised the dedicated efforts of the Minister of the Interior, Senator Syed Mohin Raza Naqvi, President of the Capital Development Authority (CDA), Muhammad Ali Randhawa, of the Islamabad Inspector General Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, The project with a remarkable workforce.
“The completion of this underground passage in just over a month marks an important stage in our national development development,” said the Prime Minister. “It completes our broader vision of a corridor without signaling from Islamabad International Airport to Murrier, the softening of traffic congestion and the improvement of the journey time for commuters.”
He asked the administration of the federal capital and the ADC to continue working with increased efficiency and devotion to make Islamabad more beautiful and well organized.
Extending to around 479 meters, the underground passage includes three traffic lanes designed to facilitate the more fluid traffic flow. The project is part of a connectivity corridor of almost nine kilometers which, according to the Prime Minister, will benefit not only to the residents of Islamabad and Rawalpindi, but also travelers across the country heading towards Murrier.
By reflecting on the project calendar, the Prime Minister noted that only 35 days ago, he had thrown the foundation stone for the underground passage, which has now been completed, including associated road works and landscaping. He congratulated the project contractor, the consultants and all the officials involved and urged the Minister of the Interior to maintain this momentum for future development initiatives.
In a separate address during the event, Prime Minister Shehbaz congratulated the nation for the armed forces of the strategic and courageous response of Pakistan who, in his words, treated an “overwhelming defeat” against the Indian forces. “This achievement reflects the unity of the nation and the blessings of the all-powerful Allah,” he said.
Earlier, Interior Minister Mohin Raza Naqvi informed the Prime Minister of the technical details of the project and praised the collective efforts of the CDA, the Islamabad and Nespak police. He also revealed that design work for the underground passage of Shaheen Chowk was underway, as well as plans for a new Safari park and a flesh project.
The inauguration brought together the federal ministers Hanif Abbasi and Dr Tariq Fazl Chaudhary, the state ministers Talal Chaudhary and Talha Burki, and other parliamentarians.
