Islamabad:
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif summoned the management of gas companies for an end of evening meeting to examine the supply situation following merchant complaints during time Sehr and Iftar in the sacred month of Ramazan.
By taking note of the public difficulties, the Prime Minister ordered the SUTHERN GAS COMPANY (SSGC) and SUT NORTHER PIPELINES LIMED (SNGPL) to take immediate corrective corrective measures to guarantee uninterrupted gas supply to households during Sehi and Iftar.
“The Prime Minister held an emergency meeting late at night concerning this issue,” said an official document. During the meeting, the Directors General and the High Directorate of gas companies discussed the problems of gas supply during Sehr and Iftar in detail.
Following the Prime Minister’s instructions, SSGC decided to immediately increase gas pressure by 10%. Public gas services assured that gas supply would start 30 to 45 minutes before Sehr and Iftar, with improved pressure in affected areas.
After the meeting, SSGC announced the creation of control rooms in its head and regional offices to monitor the gas distribution system. These control rooms will examine the situation of the supply daily, ensuring that low pressure complaints are resolved in an emergency.
Meanwhile, a spokesperson for the SNGPL confirmed that immediate measures had been taken on the Prime Minister’s instructions and assured that the gas supply during Sehr and Iftar would be maintained at all costs. The spokesman also urged citizens to report complaints by calling 1199.
Earlier, people in many regions of the country, including Karachi, complained about load loads for gas during Sehr and Iftar. In response, the Minister of Sindh of Energy Syed Nasir Hussain Shah called on the Prime Minister to order any burden of electricity and gas during Ramazan.
