Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif launched 10 million digital portfolios on Monday for beneficiaries of the Benazir income support program (BISP), describing the decision as a “historic stage” in the push of Pakistan to transparency, financial inclusion and an economy without cash.
With a Palm Touch Symbolic, the Prime Minister inaugurated the system in the presence of federal ministers, responsible for BISP and international partners, including GIZ, reported Radio Pakistan.
He congratulated the president of BISP, Senator Rubina Khalid and partner institutions for the “historic decision that will protect authentic containers and protect them from excessive difficulties”.
“The digital portfolio system is in its true sense blessed by the soul of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, because it authorizes BISP beneficiaries with safe, transparent and direct access to financial aid,” said Prime Minister Shehbaz.
He described BISP as a “great initiative for poverty reduction and the generation of jobs”, stressing that other efforts were necessary to extend its impact.
The Prime Minister called for the launch “a big jump to an economy without cash” and recalled that during Ramazan, 78% of the rescue package was successfully disbursed despite the skepticism and the resistance of the acquired interests.
“Transactions without species are the urgent requirements of our time. They save time, put an end to corruption and bring efficiency, helping Pakistan to progress quickly,” he said.
Prime Minister Shehbaz added that he had personally chaired several meetings on digitization despite the “attitudes and initial indifferent boredom and underlined his commitment to transform the government, business and personal transactions into digital channels.
He urged leadership BISP to link support for education and health conditionalities. “If a family receives aid, it must be linked to the condition that all the children of this cleaning frequent the school. Likewise, health initiatives must be linked to BISP support. It is then that this program will become a real heritage benefiting millions of children,” he said.
First also called for reducing the implementation cycle from eight to ten months today to four months and paid tribute to stakeholders, including the State Bank of Pakistan, the IT ministry, local banks and development partners. “We are not only paying aid, we raise an army of architects and workers to build the nation,” he added.

Earlier, Federal Secretary of BISP, Amir Ali Ahmed, said that a high -level committee had been trained to ensure transparency and ease of access. “After the launch of today, 10 million digital portfolios will be developed using the beneficiaries CNICs, supported by a biometric verification system to prevent identity theft,” he said.
He added that 10 million free SIM cards would also be distributed, the first current phase in Hyderabad, Sukkur and Rahim Yar Khan.
The president of the BISP, Senator Rubina Khalid, described the launch of “historic and historic milestone” and said that the program supporting more than 10 million families was “not only financial aid, it is a path to social and economic empowerment”.
She noted that the liaison of the advantages of the women’s CNICs gave them its recognition in the national database and said that new portfolios would be completed by digital literacy programs for women who do not know technology.

The PM Shehbaz has repeatedly stressed the importance of a digital economy without species. Last week, at a meeting, he declared that the government favors efforts to digitize the economy of Pakistan and transfer financial transactions to a system without cash.
While presiding over an examination meeting on the economy without cash in Islamabad, he ordered provincial secretaries to cooperate fully with the federal government to extend the Raast digital payment system at the district level.

Sharif has expressed its satisfaction with the progress made to an economy without species and the development of digital financial systems.
The officials informed the meeting that Pakistan will create digital public infrastructure to provide each citizen with a digital identifier, integrating national identity cards, biometrics and mobile numbers. These identifiers will allow secure and effective payments.
The briefing added that provincial governments have made progress in the connection of government payments to public and the public to government with the Raast system.
The authorities also informed the meeting that federal development agencies have granted pressures for fiber connectivity, while discussions with Pakistani railways and the National Highway Authority are underway to extend digital infrastructure.
