Islamabad:
On Friday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif ordered the ministries and other authorities concerned to prepare in a week for special bihebdomedary sectoral meetings with businessmen to develop tangible action plans to stimulate the national economy.
Speaking of the delegation of eminent businessmen from throughout the country of the Prime Minister, Shehbaz announced that he would chair the specific weekly week meeting from the sector from next Thursday, which would be assisted by government representatives and businessmen concerned.
A delegation of four members of the businessman community would represent their respective sectors, while the government team would be led by the secretary of the ministry concerned, said Shehbaz. The meeting would aim to keep targeted interactions and make the necessary decisions, he added.
“The first meeting of this type will discuss the agricultural sector,” said the Prime Minister, adding that it was the government’s priority to target exports, employment, agriculture and other critical sectors to revive the national economy in difficulty.
The Prime Minister stressed that investments were still led by local investors, then direct foreign investments followed. “The government will only act as a catalyst to make the environment empowering the businessmen to invest and attract global investors,” he said.
“It is businessmen who have to lead the wheel of the economy and the government is their facilitators,” he continued. “You have all invested your capital in this country even in difficult times for the country’s industrial and economic development. Thank you to your efforts,” he added.
“The economy of the country is moving and people have found a job. With your useful advice and opinions, the economy will continue its journey towards improvement and reforms in all sectors. The economy evolves in the right direction as interest and inflation rates have decreased.”
During the meeting, the participants expressed their confidence in the policies adapted to the affairs of the government and paid tribute to the government for the creation of the National Seed Development Authority to ensure the supply of quality seeds for the development of agriculture in the country.
Two sessions
Separately, speaking to the Chinese ambassador Jiang Zaidong, Shehbaz conveyed his warm greetings and his good wishes to the Chinese president Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Li Qiang on the successful reception of the Congress of the National People and the Political Advisory Conference of the Chinese people in Beijing.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Shehbaz expressed his satisfaction at the positive trajectory of bilateral strategic relations and thanked China for her longtime support and firm in Pakistan on all his main questions.
He also reaffirmed that the coherent and unshakable support of Pakistan in China on its main problems and declared that the leaders and peoples of the two countries had remained determined in their shared determination to further strengthen their “strategic cooperative partnership of all time” and to element it to new summits.
The progress of security and cooperation against terrorism between the two countries has also been discussed.
