Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has asked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to take all necessary measures to ensure safe repatriation of Pakistanis stranded in Iran.
The Prime Minister on Saturday chaired a high-level review meeting regarding the overall security situation in the country following the US-Israeli attack on Iran and Iranian retaliation.
Referring to Pakistanis currently visiting Iran, the Prime Minister ordered that all citizens be returned safely to Pakistan via Azerbaijan. In this regard, he asked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to immediately contact the Azerbaijani government.
Shehbaz also directed all relevant federal and provincial institutions to immediately ensure comprehensive and effective security measures in view of the current situation. He stressed that all institutions must discharge their responsibilities in mutual coordination and in perfect harmony.
The Prime Minister was informed that all security agencies are on alert in light of the current situation and all necessary measures are being taken to safeguard national security.
Shehbaz said that the people of Pakistan and the armed forces were fully prepared at all times to safeguard the security, sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country.
“Under the leadership of Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defense Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, the Armed Forces of Pakistan are discharging their duties in the best possible manner with national spirit and dedication,” he said.
He said the entire nation salutes the sacrifices made by the security forces in the war against terrorism.
The meeting was attended by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Economic Affairs Minister Ahad Khan Cheema, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, Kashmir Affairs Minister Amir Muqam, chief secretaries of the four provinces, Inspector General of Police and other senior officials concerned.
