PM Shehbaz informed the repatriation plan of Afghan refugees

The Minister of the Interior, Mohin Naqvi, met Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday to discuss national security and the ongoing repatriation of Afghan nationals.

According to a statement published by the Prime Minister’s office, Naqvi informed the Prime Minister of security measures in place during Eidul FITR and progress on the return from undocumented foreigners and holders of Afghan citizen cards.

Prime Minister Shehbaz expressed his satisfaction with the peaceful environment during Eid, praising the efforts of law enforcement organizations.

The meeting also included an examination of the questions related to the Ministry of the Interior, emphasizing the implementing measures after diadligne for Afghan repatriation.

From the previous deadline, 886,242 Afghans had returned home. Authorities have confirmed that legal prosecution will now be engaged against those who remain in violation of the policy.

Meanwhile, the federal government has postponed a deadline for the expulsion of hundreds of thousands of Afghans due to the holidays of Eidul Fitr.

The government initially established a deadline for March 31 for Afghans with specific documents to leave the country, intensifying efforts to repatriate Afghan nationals.

However, the government has now extended the deadline until the beginning of next week due to the vacation period, according to an official.

Afghans with Afghan citizen cards (ACC) published by the Pakistani authorities and have held by 800,000 people, according to the United Nations – will be subject to expulsion once the new deadline will expire.
