Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif firmly rejected India’s attempts to involve Pakistan in the recent incident in Pahalgam, declaring that no credible proof has been presented to support complaints, according to the Pakistan Associated Press.
The PM reiterated its call for a transparent, credible and neutral international survey and extended an invitation to the United Kingdom to participate in the process.
During a meeting at the Prime Minister’s house with the British High Commissioner in Pakistan, Jane Marriott, Prime Minister Shehbaz shared Pakistan’s point of view on the developing regional situation after the episode of Pahalgam.
He underlined Islamabad’s commitment to regional peace and security, saying that Pakistan would not engage in any activity that could destabilize South Asia.
Stressing the importance of diplomacy and multilateral cooperation, the PM has urged the United Kingdom – cite its solid bilateral links with Pakistan and India – to play a constructive role in the softening of regional tensions.
The High Commissioner Marriott expressed his appreciation for the opening of the PM by discussing Pakistan’s position and confirmed the United Kingdom’s intention to continue to engage with the two South Asian nations to support regional peace and stability.
Reunion also discussed Pakistan’s economic priorities, Prime Minister Shehbaz highlighting the emphasis put by his government on growth and development in collaboration with international partners.
