PM Shehbaz is addressed to the nation after the ceasefire with India

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif approached the nation on Saturday following the announcement of a ceasefire agreement between Pakistan and India, expressing a deep gratitude to the people of Pakistan, the armed forces, the political leaders and the international partners who supported the efforts to defuse tensions.

In a television speech, the Prime Minister confirmed that Pakistan had responded positively to ceasefire proposals “for 230 million Pakistani”, after weeks of military climbing after the attack on April 22 in Pahalgam, the Indians illegally occupied Jammu and the cashmere (IIOJK), which left 26 dead. India blamed the elements of Pakistan, a categorically rejected allegation by Islamabad.

Prime Minister Shehbaz expressed his appreciation for the role of the United States in the cease-fire brokerage, personally thanking President Donald Trump “for having played a sincere and constructive role”. He also recognized the contributions of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Türkiye, Kuwait, the United Kingdom, the United Nations Secretary General and “other allied countries” involved in the diplomatic effort.

“My heir brother Mohammed Bin Salman, my brother Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed, my dear brother Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad, and my nice brother Recep Tayyip Erdoğan – offered us strength and confidence in a difficult hour. I am grateful for the depth of my heart,” said the Prime Minister.

He specially mentioned China’s support, thanking President Xi Jinping, his government and the Chinese people. “China has stayed in Pakistan without worrying about loss or gain. They have been our real friends for 78 years, and we will always remember this support,” he added.

The Prime Minister paid tribute to the armed forces and praised mothers of martyred soldiers, declaring: “Their sacrifices will never be forgotten.” He also thanked the political allies and the opposition parties for his statutes, in particular the leader of the Nawaz Sharif party and the President Asif Ali Zardari, whose advice, he noted, had been “invaluable”.

He recognized the role of Pakistani citizens, in particular social media users, for having counterfeit the disinformation and maintenance of the national unit online. “Our people remained firm in the face of disinformation. I thank each user who has become a digital soldier for the truth. ”

For the future, the Prime Minister has expressed confidence in national resolution: “I am sure that our political parties and our civil-military leaders will continue to work for Pakistan. We will not rest until we have found our legitimate place in the world. ”

He urged unity, hard work and renewed national ambition. “Let’s work so hard that the world is surprised – just as they are now to the courage of our armed forces.”
