Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed his government’s commitment to economic prosperity on Saturday thanks to structural reforms expected for a long time, institutional changes and a renewed accent on governance based on merit.

“The road is very difficult because there have been reforms expected for a long time, and the structural changes have not taken place in recent decades,” he said while addressing a group of Pakistani students, who obtain education in the main educational establishments in the world and selected for the summer internship program of the Uraan Pakistan government.

The Prime Minister stressed that Pakistan had to undertake these long late structural changes, thanks to tireless and long efforts.

At first, he pointed out that when the Pakistani-Nawaz Muslim League (PML-N) took care of the government in 2023, Pakistan faced a serious threat of defect and that their fate was suspended.

“The majority has seen that Pakistan would go by default while the minority thought that we will escape this disaster,” he said, adding that he had held discussions on the marathon with the Director General of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and assured that Pakistan would not come up against failure and do not reach the IMF program.

The Prime Minister said that at that time, the economy was in poor condition, galloping inflation affecting 38% while the policy rate oscillated at 22.5%. The country’s commercial atmosphere was very skeptical.

The Prime Minister, in his remarks, also declared that they had the huge burden and the burden of walking in unison and to work with sincerity of the goal to change the situation.

He also referred to the reforms and the digitization of the Federal Board of Return (FBR) and said that they had shown doors to corrupt people without being influenced.

To eliminate corruption in the FBR, he was very clear in his mind and made decisions that had never taken without taking into account a culture of “Sifarish”, he added.

The Prime Minister said that before, the digitization process in the FBR was only confined to the articles, because no practical step has been taken and blamed the corrupt and clever elements to silence the system.

He said that it did not mean that there was a shortage of workers and honest bureaucrats who were not lucky, adding that they had released the best people from FBR, including its president and hired expert consultants.

Now he said that digitization was the FBR brand brand, where the work had been converted documents into several initiatives, including AI, and facialless interaction.

Thanks to the application of these measures, the income collection had increased from 12 billion rupees to more than 50 billion rupees in one year, showing a massive tax evasion in a single sector, he maintained.

“We have a long and long journey and confronted with the mountains as obstacles, but I make sure that we will not go away our functions in the service of the nation.”

Responding to the request of a student, he said that because of climate change, Pakistan suffered a lot during the floods of 2022, the economy underwent $ 30 billion in losses, despite the fact that the country has not brought percentage friction in the global greenhouse effects.

The Prime Minister, answering a question, said that during the month of May, Pakistan was faced with Indian assault not called in the context of the Pahalgam incident.

He said he had offered a direct proposal to India to let this case be the subject of an investigation by international organizations, but India has never commented on this proposal.

Because of the Indian assault, 55 Pakistani were martyred and responded to self-defense by lowering six Indian planes, he said, adding while on May 9 and 10, after the attack on India, Pakistan responded with full power and taught the enemy a lesson.

The Prime Minister praised the armed forces for showing his professional capacities and courage, saying that Pakistan had won conventional war.

He argued that the Pakistan nuclear program was intended only for peaceful purposes and self -defense.
