PM Shehbaz promises to defend the sovereignty of Pakistan

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has promised to defend the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Pakistan against any future aggression, in the midst of increasing tensions triggered by the recent provocative remarks of Indian leaders.

During a telephone call with President Azerbaijani Ilham Aliyev, the Prime Minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to the cease-fire agreement with India, stressing that it was agreed in the interest of regional peace.

Shehbaz described the cashmere dispute as the central cause of instability in South Asia and reiterated that its resolution in accordance with the resolutions of the United Nations Security Council was essential for lasting peace. He thanked President Aliyev for continuous support and the principles of Azerbaijan to the cause of cashmere.

The Prime Minister expressed his gratitude for the solidarity of Azerbaijan during the recent regional crisis, describing the gesture as a sign of lasting friendship and fraternity between the two nations.

Stressing Pakistan-Azerbaijan relations, Shehbaz qualified the bilateral ties of “testing in time and special” and said that Pakistan is committed to improving them in a solid economic partnership. He noted continuous efforts to finalize investments in Azerbaijani worth $ 2 billion in various sectors of the Pakistani economy.

He also extended an invitation to President Aliyev to visit Pakistan, which chief Azerbaijanis warmly accepted.

President Aliyev congratulated Pakistan for recent diplomatic successes and praised the cease-fire initiative. He reaffirmed the determination of Azerbaijan to strengthen cooperation with Pakistan through political and economic fronts.

Previously, Azerbaijan announced full support in Pakistan and expressed its solid solidarity towards its government and its people.

In an official letter addressed to the Prime Minister of Pakistan, the Azerbaijani government expressed concern about the current situation and condemned the recent actions of the Indian army.
