Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif received an honorary guard on Monday at the presidential palace of Zagulba in Azerbaijan when he started his official two -day visit aimed at strengthening bilateral ties between the two nations.

President Ilham Aliyev welcomed the Pakistani Prime Minister when he arrived at the Palais, where the national anthems of the two countries were played before the official reception of the Azerbaijani armed forces.

The visit marks the second trip of Prime Minister Shehbaz to Azerbaijan since taking office in March 2024. It has been accompanied by a high-level ministerial delegation, notably the Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Foreign Affairs Ishaq Dar, the Minister From trade Jam Kamal Khan, and the Minister of Investment and Privatization Abdul Aleem Khan.

During the visit, Pakistan and Azerbaijan signed several understanding memorandums (MOUS) and agreements to stimulate economic and strategic partnerships. As part of his commitments, Prime Minister Shehbaz will also attend Pakistan-Azerbaijan Business Forum, where business leaders of the two countries will explore opportunities for joint ventures and investment.

Pakistan and Azerbaijan share historically close ties, supported by mutual support on the main global and regional problems.

The visit is considered a step to further deepen bilateral cooperation and advance shared economic and strategic objectives.
