Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif received an honorary guard on Wednesday in Tashkent when he arrived at the Congress Center to meet Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev for high -level discussions.
The Uzbek chief received Prime Minister Shehbaz upon his arrival, the national hymns of the two countries played before the Prime Minister returned a military guard alongside Mirziyoyev.
The two leaders presented their respective delegations before making bilateral discussions and meetings at the level of the delegation, where discussions will focus on trade, investment, regional connectivity, security and defense cooperation.
Pakistan and Uzbekistan should sign several agreements and memorandums of understanding (soft) aimed at strengthening the links between various sectors.
A joint press conference will follow the signature ceremony.
Later, Prime Minister Shehbaz will address the Pakistani-Uzbekistan business forum, where he will highlight investment opportunities and means to improve economic collaboration.
During his visit, the Prime Minister will also visit the Tashkent Techno Park to observe the progress of Uzbekistan in industrial and construction technologies.
Prime Minister Shehbaz is accompanied by a high-level delegation, notably the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ishaq Dar, the Minister of Commerce Jam Kamal Khan and the Minister of Investments Abdul Aleem Khan.
Earlier this week, Pakistan and Azerbaijan agreed to increase bilateral investment to $ 2 billion, focusing on mutually beneficial projects.
The decision was made during the talks between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev at the Baku presidential palace on Monday.
Speaking at a joint press conference, PM said that all political parties in Pakistan are united in their efforts to strengthen ties with Azerbaijan. He stressed that the cordial relationship between the two countries should be extended to include economic cooperation.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed his confidence that memorandums of understanding (MOUS) signed during the visit, as well as the agreements expected in April, will contribute considerably to future economic growth and mutual success.
He also underlined the importance of strengthening defense relations between Pakistan and Azerbaijan, noting the commitment to the joint manufacturing of defense equipment, which, according to him, will have large -scale impacts.
