Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to maintain a close partnership with the United States for the promotion of regional peace and stability.
In a statement published on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Prime Minister Sharif expressed his gratitude to US President Donald Trump for recognizing the central role of Pakistan in the fight against terrorism in Afghanistan.
The Prime Minister said Pakistan had always played a key role in the efforts to fight terrorism, working to deprive terrorists and extremist groups of shelters and prevent their operations against any country.
He added that the determination of Pakistan to fight terrorism remains strong, citing the sacrifices made by more than 80,000 courageous soldiers and civilians in the fight.
Prime Minister Shehbaz has also stressed that Pakistan leadership and people remain in their determination to eliminate terrorism and take all possible measures to achieve this objective. He reiterated that Pakistan will continue to work closely with the United States to promote peace and stability in the region.

Earlier in the day, US President Donald Trump expressed his gratitude to Pakistan for his role in the arrest of a key terrorist involved in the attack on Kabul 2021 airport, a deadly attack that cost the life of 13 American soldiers and around 170 Afghan civilians.
