PM SLAMS Delay in the case of defamation RS10B

Lahore:

Friday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed great concern about what he described as delay as tactics by the legal team of the founding president of PTI, Imran Khan, in a case of defamation of 10 billion rupees.

The Prime Minister, who joined the procedure via a video link before a district court, said that “waste of time cannot be tolerated at all costs”.

The case stems from the allegations of Imran Khan that Shehbaz had offered him a bridge pot to remove the Panama Papers affair.

Initially, Shehbaz’s lawyer stressed that the lawyers of the founder of the PTI had failed to appear in time, despite repeated instructions.

He told the court that the Prime Minister had traveled Doha specifically for the hearing, while the opposing council arrived 45 minutes late.

Addressing the court, the Prime Minister declared: “The judge Sahib, the Constitution allows you to proceed in accordance with the law. I appear before this court with responsibility, but the councils of Imran Khan have already asked for five adjournments.”

Later, Imran Khan’s lawyer Muhammad Hussain Chottia argued that no deliberate delay was caused, arguing that he had only asked for one post. He also stressed that the legal procedure concerning the first appearances before the higher courts was clear.
