Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif thanked Chinese Prime Minister Li Qiang on Thursday for approving Islamabad’s call to a credible and transparent international investigation into the April 22 attack in Jammu-et-Cachemire of Indian origin, which killed 26.

The Prime Minister made these remarks at a meeting with Chinese ambassador Jiang Zaidong at the Prime Minister’s office in Islamabad, where he also expressed his gratitude to China for his constant support in the midst of regional tensions.

He responded to his best wishes to Chinese President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Li, and appreciated Beijing’s understanding of the position of Pakistan’s principles on the recent actions of India.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, on Saturday, described Pahalgam’s attack as another example of the current game, declaring that Pakistan is open to any neutral and transparent “investigation on the IIOJK incident.

According to a press release from the Prime Minister’s office, Sharif reiterated the unequivocal conviction of Pakistan of terrorism in all its forms. He noted that as primary school state in the world war against terrorism, Pakistan had sacrificed more than 90,000 lives and suffered economic losses over $ 152 billion in peace and security for the region and the world.

He warned that the recent risks of aggressive posture of India divert the objective of Pakistan from operations against critical terrorism against groups such as IS-KP, TTP and BLA, militant networks operating from Afghan territory.

Sharif also condemned what he called “water aggression” of India, describing New Delhi’s reported efforts to arm water resources as a violation of the Industry Water Treaty. “No party has the right to unilaterally deviate from international agreements,” he said, calling such actions a serious violation of confidence and a threat to regional stability.

The Prime Minister stressed that a peaceful resolution of the Jammu and cashmere dispute is essential for lasting peace in South Asia. “Without solving the problem of cashmere, the region cannot reach lasting peace,” he added.

Ambassador Jiang thanked the Prime Minister for clearly describing Pakistan’s point of view and reiterated China’s support for peace and stability in South Asia. He said Beijing shares Islamabad’s vision for a peaceful region and will continue to stay in Pakistan on all basic issues.
