Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif threw the foundation stone of Daanish University, a project worth 190 million pounds Sterling (60 billion rupees).
Addressing the revolutionary ceremony in Islamabad, Prime Minister Shehbaz expressed his gratitude to chief judge Yahya Afridi and the former chief judge Qazi Faez Isa for facilitating the transfer of 190 million pounds to the national treasury.
The funds, which will be used to establish the university, have been returned to Pakistan by the National Crime Agency (NCA) of the United Kingdom, followed by a subsequent transfer from the Supreme Court to the Federal Government account.
The amount concerns the case of £ 190 in which the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-insaf (PTI), Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi, were sentenced to 14 years and seven years for their involvement in the scandal of the Al-Qadir trust concerning “the adjustment” of 190 million pounds sterling of the value of the property of the Tycoon was seized by the NCA United Kingdom during Khan’s outfit.
It was decided that the money would be submitted to the SC in the name of the businessman concerned, however, Al -Qadir Trust was created a few weeks later following an agreement – which would have aimed to provide legal coverage to the black money received from the NCA – with the property magnate.
Speaking on occasion, the Prime Minister said that students from the four provinces would have access to higher education at the university, with free education for disadvantaged children.
The Prime Minister stressed that Daanish University is said to be a global institution with high -level teachers, research centers and academic excellence. The first section of the university should become operational by August 14, 2026.
Note that students from all over the country would obtain registrations at various university faculties only on the basis of merit, the Prime Minister said that a trust would be created and initially, the government would provide 10 billion rupees as seed currency and later, it would work on the amount perceived to fees of rich students while poor students are assisted.
Revealing that the names of the Daanish University Council of Governors had been finalized so that the brilliant minds could contribute, Prime Minister Shehbaz assured that the government would have no relationship with its functions and its administration as it would work independently.
The Minister of Planning Ahsan Iqbal stressed that the project had been funded by public funds, the previous government of which would have deprived the nation.
Danish University, said Iqbal, is said to be the following level where they would prepare labor for the industrial revolution and offer installations necessary to transmit education in AI, bio-technology, robotics, space sciences and other emerging technologies thanks to applied research to create a platform to fill the gap between universities and industries.
The Minister also noted that the government would also seek global partnerships for the transfer of technology and to ensure that this institution should provide technology leaders, innovators and entrepreneurs.
