The Minister of Energy Awais Leghari reassured the public that the prices of electricity will soon be reduced, rejecting the allegations according to which they would not be lowered, Express News reported.
Addressing the media on Tuesday, he said: “The Prime Minister will soon announce good news. Whether we are doing the reduction two days or two days later, we will do it as soon as the right time arrives.”
Leghari rejected the allegations according to which the prices of electricity would not be reduced, adding that these reports were inaccurate.
In response to a question on the question of whether the government would affect the benefit of not reducing the prices of petroleum products to the public, it replied: “We are closed in our commitments; our word is not like that of the previous government.”
It should be noted that on March 15, the government had decided to maintain prices for petroleum products at its current levels, despite the expectations of a significant reduction in prices due to international market conditions. Instead, the government has increased taxes on RS10 petroleum products per liter.
Last week, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that if the prices of petroleum products were maintained at the current level, a major decision had been made to transfer the advantages of the prices of electricity to the public.
According to the Pakistan Associated PressThe Prime Minister also said that a complete set to reduce electricity rates was being prepared and would be announced in the coming weeks.
In a separate interaction with the journalists of Lahore, the Minister of Petroleum, Ali Pervez Malik, expressed the determination of the government to provide all possible installations to the public.
He also declared that the Prime Minister would soon present a complete rescue set for electricity consumers. However, he said that the reduction in electricity prices would not be temporary but was part of a long -term strategy.
