The Pakistan Meteorological Department has issued its fourth tropical cyclone watch after a depression developed over the east-central Arabian Sea, although it confirmed that there is currently no threat to Pakistan’s coastal areas.
According to the Tropical Cyclone Warning Center of the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the weather system moved from north to northwest over the last 24 hours and was located near latitude 16.4°N and longitude 70.4°E, about 1,004 kilometers south-southeast of Karachi and about 400 kilometers southwest of Mumbai, India.
The department said the depression is expected to continue moving northwest across the east-central Arabian Sea over the next 24 hours.
PMD added that its Cyclone Warning Center in Karachi is closely monitoring the system and will continue to inform relevant authorities, including the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and the provincial administrations of Sindh and Balochistan.
At present, the department emphasized that no coastal areas of Pakistan face any cyclone risk.
