Lahore / Karachi:
A new war of words broke out between the ministers of Punjab and the Sindh on Saturday, while tensions were simmering on the controversial project of the federal government canals – just a day after the president of the PPP Bilawal Bhutto -Zardari denounced the program as “unilateral”.
Addressing the media of Lahore, the Minister of Punjab, Azma Bukhari, retaliated in Bilawal, claiming that his Rallye rhetoric offered no real solution.
“If he can take the time to snuggle up with the federal government on provincial budgets,” she joked, “then he should also roll up his sleeves to solve the channel problem.”
Doubled, Bukhari stressed that the project had already crossed the administrative formalities with presidential consent.
“It is documented, it is signed,” she said, clearly indicating that the bases had official support.
Accusing the PPP of doing politics with water, she called the “unhappy” movement and questioned the choice of the Bilawal scene.
“Bilawal Bhutto should not talk about water solutions while standing for rallies,” she said. “Before making accusations, check the facts. This is the policy of the canal,” she said.
Sindh ministers
Meanwhile, the Minister of Sindh irrigation, Jam Khan Shoro, strongly responded to Bukhari’s remarks concerning controversial channel projects.
Addressing journalists in Karachi, Shoro said: “We do not polish the problem. The inhabitants of the Sindh and the PPP have a position: no for the controversial channels. Sindh people protest, and you call it politics?”
He said Bilawal had warned the federal government if the decision was not reversed, PPP would be held with the people, and not with Shehbaz Sharif.
“Azma Bukhari does not even understand the ABC problem of water. Instead of defending the project, the PML-N should bury it permanently,” he said.
Shoro said the Sindh faced acute water shortages, not only for agriculture, but also for drinking water. “Our lands are sterile, our farmers are worried and our lively cattle.”
He urged Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to reject controversial channels and called for an immediate meeting of the Common interest Council (CCI) to permanently put the plan.
“If the PM does not put an end to this project, the PPP will go to a measure with the inhabitants of the Sindh to stop it. The entire irrigation system of the Sindh depends on the industrial river,” he said.
Similarly, reacting to the remarks of the Minister of Punjab, the main minister of the Sindh for information, transport and public transport Sharjeel Inam Memon questioned his understanding of the constitutional powers of the president.
“Do you have [Bokhari] Read the Constitution? Do you know how to read the Constitution? “Said Memon in a media speech in Karachi.
He also asked where he was indicated in the Constitution that the president had the power to approve these development projects.
“If the federal government sent him to the president for approval, then it was an incompetent step,” he added.
“It is not his mandate, we are tired of telling you that 100 times,” said Memon, stressing that the federal government had not followed the correct procedural path.
“If you have the approval documents, you should be able to provide the reported minutes of the meeting,” he continued.
Tackling the perception that the PPP had not publicly declared its intention to leave the coalition government if its concerns were not addressed, Memon replied: “When we said that we would announce it on someone’s request?”
“He [Bilawal] Said that we are with the people, we are not with the Shehbaz government, “said Memon, quoting the president of the PPP.
The initiative of Green Pakistan, with an estimated cost of $ 3.3 billion, aims to build six channels to irrigate 1.2 million acres of arid land in southern Punjab. However, the project encountered growing resistance – first of the nationalist groups Sindhi and now the PPP itself.
Five of the channels are planned on the Industry river, while the sixth will be built along the Sutlej river, intended to provide around 4,120 water records to the Cholistan desert region in Punjab.
‘Party chaos’
During his speech in Lahore, Bukhari also made a blow against political opponents, in particular the PTI, saying: “YouTubers and the chaos party cannot repair the relief of Pakistan. Those who had links with PPIs and electricity companies are now making noise.”
She added that the Punjab government was grateful to Prime Minister Shehbaz to have contained the sharp increase in electricity bills.
“The good news season has started, and those who wrote letters to the IMF are those that have been disrupted by this progress,” said Bukhari in a veiled reference to PTI.
She accused PTI’s policies after trying to derail the IMF program and “transform the country into Sri Lanka”, a plan she said Shehbaz Sharif has successfully foiled.
Turning his weapons to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Bukhari said: “KP’s massive corruption is no secret, even their own leaders tell the stories. Youtubers and the media cannot ignore the circus of” Chor Chor “.
She questioned the CM KP Ali Amin Gandapur at the declaration of 100 million RS rupees while saying that he had spent 750 million rupees for the game. “Have these illegal funds used for holiday work?” She asked.
It allegedly allegedly allegedly 8.66 billion rupes in chitral forests, and said KP lacked schools and medicines. “The files show that the KP Health Department bought a value of 20.8 million rupees, but they are missing in hospitals. RS130 million have been spent by the district health hospitals without registration,” she said.
She also accused the KP government of massive corruption in the supply of wheat and allegedly alleged that 2 billion rupees had been paid by party workers under the cover of mosque funds.
She said Gandapur’s position as CM was in danger because “her own party calls her corrupt”.
She rejected the idea that the internal committee of a party could audit misuse of public funds, stressing that only the NAB authorities or relevant authorities can do so. “Their leaders, including Swati, Junaid Akbar and Asad Qaiser, talk about the corruption of the other. Who will answer this?” She asked.
Bukhari demanded the federal government account for 600 billion rupees intended for public order. “There is no CTD in KP. Do not emit threats-we are not afraid. Show where the money went before talking about NFC,” she said.
