PML-N, PPP refuses to sign the APC declaration

Islamabad:

The PML-N and the PPP refused on Sunday to sign a declaration adopted by a conference on all parties (APC) which, among other things, interrupted an immediate judgment to all military operations and described terrorism, extremism and anarchy as the result of mediocre government policies.

The APC summoned in the Federal capital by the ANP was assisted by all the main political parties.

Speaking on occasion, the head of the ANP, Aimal Wali Khan, said that there were people in Waziristan – a district which has witnessed a certain number of military operations in the past two decades – which have not returned home for 12 years. He said that such a situation could not be called development.

Khan said his party was not against Punjab and is pro-Pakistan. “But Pakistan does not give us equal rights. Asking for our rights should not be considered against Pakistan,” he added.

The head of Jui-F Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that there was a question mark on the country’s political and parliamentary system, because the current government is not representative of the people but a government of the establishment. “Our protests and peaceful marches are marked as a rebellion-this is what pushes movements to revolt,” he said.

The head of QWP, AFTAB, Khan Sherpao, said that the government, and not the establishment, should make negotiations with the opposition. “If direct talks take place, this will bypass parliament. The PM should convene a meeting and include representatives of the establishment.”

The leader of the PML-N, Irfan Siddiqui, supported Fazl’s call to a national dialogue, adding that martial laws and dictators have dug the state. However, he wondered if politicians’ hands were also clean.

“This same army has defeated an enemy five times its size. If martial law was really in place, such conferences would not even be possible.

“Pakistan will survive, the four provinces will last and no one will be authorized to undermine the Constitution. The army sees Pakistan from the Pakistani point of view,” he said.

However, a joint press release presented to the APC caused a split between political parties. The PML-N and the PPP opposed the declaration, refused to sign it and boycotted the press conference.

The press release called on current disorders, terrorism and violation of rights in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Balutchistan because of the failure of state policies, stressing that peace and sustainable progress in Pakistan could not be affected without democracy, supremacy of the Constitution and provincial rights.

He demanded an immediate judgment at all military operations in KP and Balutchistan and the establishment of a truth committee under judicial surveillance to investigate human and financial losses.

The declaration described terrorism, extremism and anarchy as the results of mediocre government policies, calling for complete measures to eliminate them. He called for dissolving all the so -called “death skips” and illegal armed groups, guaranteeing the protection of the life and property of citizens.

He called for the recognition of the rights of the provinces on minerals and resources in accordance with the 18th constitutional amendment and rejected the proposal to merge the levy force in the Balutchistan police, rather calling for its modernization.

The declaration also called for the transfer of all powers in tribal districts merged to civil administration and the abolition of laws such as “action for the benefit of civil power”.

He described the disappearances applied as blatant violations of the Constitution, demanding the recovery and production of all those who disappeared before the courts.

He also called for the release of all “political prisoners” and the supply of a free environment for political activities. The APC also demanded the immediate dissolution of unconstitutional bodies, “in particular the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC)”.

He also called for the repeal of unjust laws such as the 3-MPO and the fourth appendix and condemned the government for not having stopped the killers of the leaders of the MAULANA KHANZEB, MUFTI MURTI SHAKIR and other martyrs.

He demanded the rehabilitation of the areas affected by terrorism and operations, as well as the return of in -house people (PDI) and the supply of remuneration, jobs and commercial opportunities.

Nayyar Hussain Bukhari of the PPP, Irfan Siddiqui of PML-N and the Federal Minister of Parliamentary Affairs of Dr Tari Fazal Chaudhry all refused to sign. “These are your requests, not ours and we cannot approve them,” said Siddiqui. The MQM, the PML-Q and the other parties, however, supported the declaration.

Participants also expressed pain on natural disasters and devastating floods in the KP. In light of the situation, the “peace march” of Islamabad scheduled for August 23 against terrorism and military operations in KP has been postponed.
