Police arrest a woman after the death of “rising star” journalist Adan Manzano during the Super Bowl week

A woman from Louisiana was arrested after the death of Adan Manzano, a sports journalist based in Kansas City in assignment to New Orleans for the Super Bowl.

Danette Colbert would have used Manzano’s credit card several times in New Orleans.

It faces multiple accusations of land crimes, in particular offenses related to fraud and theft, the police said.

His arrest file includes theft allegations, among other alleged criminal acts. An investigation is underway.

Manzano went to New Orleans to cover KGKC, the Affilié de Telemundo de Kansas City and Tico Sports. Steve Downing, KGKC managing director, said Manzano’s body had been found in his hotel room on Wednesday evening.

A cause of death was not immediately provided.

KGKC published a statement offering condolences to the relatives of Manzano. Telemundo Kansas City has also confirmed its cooperation with the authorities in a published declaration to its social media platform.

“Adan was a real professional and a rising star, who illustrated excellence in his work. We will deeply miss Adan and his passion for sport, and the contributions he made to the local community,” said Telemundo Declaration 39.

“Our thoughts and sincere condolences go to his family and loved ones during this difficult period.”

Manzano’s wife, Ashleigh Boyd, died in a car accident last year in Kansas.
