Peshawar:
The security forces in the upper district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have thwarted a major terrorist attack from Afghanistan, killing at least five terrorists Fitna-Al-Khwarij in a joint operation of terrorism.
According to senior security officials, intelligence had warned a week earlier to come together in the border regions, which prompted the police and the security units to remain on alert.
Acting on information, the Department of Fighting Terrorism (CTD), the District Police, Rapid Response Force (RRF) and Elite Force launched a targeted operation in the fields of Dando, Barikot, Salam Kot and Atandra under the direction of the district police officer of Upper Dir (DPO) Syed Muhammad Bilal.
During the raid early in the morning, the forces surrounded the terrorists of several directions, establishing control points on key routes to cut the escape and disturb the movements. A command and control center has also been set up to coordinate the effort.
The most intense fire exchange took place in Salam Kot, where five terrorists were neutralized. The security staff then recovered the body of one of them, while excavation was underway to locate the other dead and secure the area.
A civilian was killed in the cross -fires, while seven police officers underwent minor injuries, which were transferred to the hospital and would be in danger.
Local residents have actively supported the security forces and welcomed professionalism and the resolution of the operation.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Zulfiqar Hameed confirmed to L’Express PK Press Club that timely intelligence, using technology, prevented large -scale assault. “We had information that the terrorists planned to enter Dir. Our forces remained vigilant and managed to thwart their attempt,” he said.
In a statement, IGP Hameed praised the courage and commitment of the personnel involved. “Our officers and Jawans are ready to defend the fatherland at any time. Their determination to defeat the harmful creations of the terrorists is unshakable. We are proud of their bravery.”
Meanwhile, security scan continues in the region and research operations are underway to ensure that the area is completely rid of the terrorist presence.
