Police postponed a terrorist attack on their post of Fateh Khel on the outskirts of Bannu City, killing three terrorists in a fierce shooting exchange in which a courageous policeman stated his life, the police announced on Sunday.
Unidentified terrorists launched a fierce attack on the police station late last night using small and heavy weapons. The police responded quickly, engaging in a heavy fire exchange and neutralizing three attackers while injuring several others, they said.
During the intensity of shooting, a courageous policeman kissed martyrdom, depositing his life in defense of the country, they added. The security forces launched a research operation in the region to apprehend the remaining activists and eliminate persistent threats.
Police said 40 to 50 terrorists had attacked the check, adding that three terrorists had been killed in the fire that lasted more than an hour. Blood stains and shoes abandoned on the scene suggested that the flight terrorists have won their injured accomplices, scene officials said.
The Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Bannu Range Sajjad Khan and the district police officer (DPO) Saleem Abbas Kulachi immediately reached the meeting site and recommended the value of the police.
“The terrorists had blocked the roads leading to the post, but police officials reopened the roads and fought with the terrorists,” said Dig Khan in a statement. “Police staff courageously fought the terrorists, who used heavy weapons,” he added.
“The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa [K-P] Police is a courageous force, standing closes on the front lines against terrorism, “he said.” Our officers know how to respond decisively to the loose attacks of the enemy. Such actions will not demoralize us. Bannu’s police are ready to make each sacrifice for peace, “he added.
Dig Sajjad Khan said that Inspector General (IG) of the KP Zulfiqar Hameed police also praised the bravery of the police forces and paid tributes rich to the martyr cop. “The martyred constable Rooh Niaz Khan is our hero. His sacrifice for the nation will never be forgotten.”
The funeral prayers for the martyred constable Rooh Niaz Khan were offered to the Bannu’s police lines on Sunday morning, which Dig Khan, DPO Kulachi, parents and other police officers attended. On this occasion, DPO Kulachi said that Bannu’s police were fully able to cope with the terrorists.
Interior Minister Mohin Naqvi paid tribute to the martyred gendarme, saying that he had reached the highest level of martyrdom by sacrificing his life in the exercise of his functions. “The police courageously fought the terrorists sponsored by India who attacked the night,” he said.
KP and Balutchistan have witnessed an increase in terrorist attacks in recent months. A report indicates that militant attacks in July increased 5% compared to June.
Last month experienced a slight increase in militant violence, following a brief decline in the previous month, Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS) said in its monthly report published last week.
The report indicates that 82 militant attacks were recorded across the country in July, leading to the death of 101 people and injuries to 150 others. Among the deaths, 47 were civilians, 36 security staff and 18 activists.
On the other hand, the report indicates that June saw 78 militant attacks, resulting in 100 deaths and 189 injuries. The July figures indicated a 5% increase in militant attacks compared to the previous month, added the report.
KP remained the epicenter of such attacks, bringing the weight of 53 assaults. It was followed by Balutchistan with 28 attacks. According to the report, no militant incident has been reported to Punjab, Sindh, Azad Jammu and Cashmere (AJK), or to the territory of the capital Islamabad (ICT).
The report also highlighted the counter-military operations intensified by the security forces, which led to the murder of 106 activists and the arrest of 69 alleged agents in July.
