Senator Susan Collins, R-Maine, clearly said that transgender athletes should participate in female and female sports on Monday.
Collins declared in a press release obtained by PK Press Club Digital that a law of the state of Maine which allows biological men to compete with girls and women is the antithesis of “the spirit and intention of title IX”.

“I believe that the state of Maine is under control due to the law of the state which allows biological men to play in the sports of girls.
The state refused to comply with the executive order of President Donald Trump to prevent organic men from participating in the sports of girls and women. On Friday, the civil rights office of civil rights referred to the “non-compliance of the State with title IX” at the Ministry of Justice on Friday.
“It is extremely important to treat transgender people with respect and dignity. But that does not change the fact that title IX, which was adopted in 1972, has considerably widened opportunities for girls and young women to participate in sports organized in high school and college,” added Collins. “He did, in part, by demanding equal access to sports resources and installations based on sex – and not on the basis of gender identity. The safe and fair sports competition was one of the keys to the success of the title IX. This is why I do not think that transgender athletes are competing in the athletics of girls and women.
“I will continue to plead so that Maine receives its fair share of federal funding, which I have done successfully so far, but I support the original intention of title IX.”

“The association of managers of Maine is bound by law, including the Maine Human Rights Act (MHRA), which our participation policy reflects,” wrote officials. “We are unable to sign a resolution agreement that would oblige to create a new policy that would violate the law and the MHRA.
“As such, we have not signed and will not sign the resolution agreement sent by the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Services. With regard to the Federal Department of Education, Office of Civil Rights, contract resolution, we were not a direct recipient of this agreement, we are therefore not required to respond.”

The administrative district of the Maine 51 school also underlined the law on maine’s human rights.

The Maine Human Rights Act was changed four years ago to add gender identity as a protected class and specifically declared that refusing a person an equal opportunity to participate in sports is discrimination against education. The Association of Maine Directors has updated its policy to allow athletes to compete with the sex they identify as last year.
A survey of the New Hampshire University published Thursday showed that 64% of Maine residents think that transgender athletes “certainly should not” or “should probably not” participate in the sports of girls and women. Only 29% of Maine residents thought that transgender athletes “should probably” or “should certainly” compete with girls and women in sport.
Maine Governor Janet Mills, Maine Prosecutor General Aaron Frey and the Maine education service did not respond to requests for comments.
