Lahore:
The verbal spit between the PPP and the PML-N-the two parties supporting the current political exemption and respectively leading the Sindh and the Punjab-continued on Sunday while the PPP highlighted an alleged internal rift within the PML-N while the PML-N accused the PPP chief of having weakened his own party.
At a press conference intelligently orchestrated in Karachi, the Minister of Sindh of Information, Sharjeel Memon, advised PML-N to refrain from dragging the PPP in his internal rifts.
He said that the real problem of the Punjab government was with the federal government led by Shehbaz Sharif, and that a “conspiracy” had been hatched against the Prime Minister, who also belongs to the PML-N using the PPP as a scapegoat.
Memon said the Prime Minister had gained distinctions during his recent American tour, which could have offended his niece and the chief minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz, who “aspires the spotlight”.
Quoting examples of internal divisions, he noticed that each time the Prime Minister visits a province – Sindh or Balutchistan – he is received by the respective minister in chief in accordance with the protocol, but in his own hometown, “neither the CM nor the provincial administration welcome him.”
Memon allegedly alleged that Punjab had even tried to “steal credit” after Pahalgam’s incident, saying that their leader – the president of the PML -N Nawaz Sharif – was “the chief architect of this response”. He said that the Punjab government is setting up smoke screens to divert attention from its own shortcomings.
Memon also challenged Maryam Nawaz’s position on the apology. “If his position on forgiveness after the excuses is applied universally, then everyone in prison should be released because they would all be ready to apologize.”
He added that the Punjab government had carried out a campaign in support of a youtuber who had repeatedly used derogatory terms for PPP leaders. “If the excuses work for you,” he asked, “then why do we have the act of PECA and the laws on hate speeches?”
He accused the Punjab government of Fanning Provincialism, urging them to “stop playing the provincial card”. He said, “We blame Maryam Nawaz’s speeches, who make her spread against others. She should tell them to be silent.”
The leader of the PPP also said that instead of losing the accent, the government should “worry about those who do not shelter or food”. “Media management will not do the trick-you will have to deliver on the ground,” he added.
Tackling the question of using data from the Benazir income support program (BISP) to help flood victims and the search for foreign aid to the rehabilitation of floods, Memon said that the PPP had not called on the central government, but it seemed to offend Punjab.
“We are grateful to the [PML-N led] The federal government for listening to us, “he said, recalling that even the Prime Minister had asked for international assistance during disasters.” Thus, to say that any self -respecting chief should not ask for help is absurd. “”
He warned that “playing the provincial card has not worked in the past, and it will not be in the future”. He called to unity, saying: “We have always raised the slogan of Pakistan Khappay – Pakistan should stay.”
By referring to the recent Maryam declaration on the construction of the controversial channel of Cholistan, he declared that rhetoric as “my water, my resource” does not move all leader who read the water agreement and the constitution, recalling that these resources belong to everyone, adding that “we [people of Sindh] Looks like “our ports” or “our coal”.
Memon said there were many videos exposing mismanagement of the Punjab government.
“The media’s blows no longer helps,” he said, adding that the policy politicization in the event of a disaster “is contemptible” and that “those who like to print their faces on the wheat bags and the packaging of cookies are those that make politics on floods.”
However, he said the PPP continued to give Maryam Nawaz the respect she deserved.
“Maryam Nawaz is like our sister – we respect her as we would respect their sister or daughter. We have not held any disease against anyone
“Excuse or not does not reduce his stature – it is not a question of ego,” said Memon, referring to Maryam Nawaz’s refusal to apologize for his remarks.
“Our criticisms are only supposed to show them their shortcomings. Maryam Nawaz does not apologize is not a big problem – it is not a question of knowing who wins or loses. The federal minister of law has already apologized.”
However, he described his remarks as “breaking the fingers of” unpleasant criticism.
Memon said the real performance test lies in the votes, and in the 2024 elections, “people have already given their verdict” – a jibe veiled at the PML -N to be the “choice of the establishment”.
He added: “If someone has doubts, I am ready to resign – we can have a re -election and see where we are. They can also resign, and we will know our value.” He said that the next elections to the local organization would further reveal the popularity of each party.
Memon said he was ready to answer one point by point in an open debate on any platform of their choice, but urged the Punjab government to “focus on governance instead of carrying out campaigns”.
The Minister of Punjab with Azma Bukhari Information and Culture, strongly responded to the declaration of Sharjeel Memon, accepting his challenge for a live debate. “I accept your debate challenge-time and place will be of your choice, but you have to come yourself. Do not hide behind a proxy,” she said.
Azma said that the story of the “dirty politics” of the PPP and Memon on the victims of the Punjab floods had completely failed, and that they now resorted to a “Phuphay Kutni-Style” attack against the PM.
“Did Prime Minister tell you to do politics on Punjab misery?” She asked.
She said that PPP president Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, during his mandate as Minister of Foreign Affairs, “worked to weaken the roots of his own party, the federal government and the Prime Minister – and the Nation clearly remembers this.”
Azma accused the conspiracy PPP against Punjab and the Federation, saying that “when asked about their own performance, they immediately start playing the card of provincialism”.
She criticized the repeated use by the Southern Punjab PPP and BISP cards, the appellant “Fillth, not politics”. She said that southern punjab was more developed than many parts of the inner Sindh, but the PPP continued to push an anti-punjab story.
She noted that Bilawal, his sister Aseefa and the leaders of the PPP “are constantly addressed to Punjab by speaking of the bisp, while claiming that they speak to the federation”.
Azma said that whenever problems such as Karachi’s garbage crisis, broken roads or corruption in solar projects are raised, the PPP hides behind “linguistic slogans and marsoon”.
“Stop interfering in Punjab affairs and does not act innocent,” she said.
She accused the PPP of “making the federation and the Punjab sing thanks to threats and demonstrations” saying: “Who are you to dictate the Punjab? Keep your advice and your deadlines in your pocket.”
Bukhari said the local Punjab local elections would be “transparent and people focused – unlike the false elections held in Karachi”.
Commenting on the question of water, she said: “Your slogan of” My Water, My Choice “is exactly like” Marsoon Marsoon, Pani Na Desoon “. You cannot cry on the water day and night, then dictate how Punjab should use it – it would not happen.”
She said that if the PPP was not afraid of the growing popularity of Maryam Nawaz, “they would not have felt the need to hold a press conference on vacation”.
Azma wondered if the PPP or the Sindh government had contributed a single penny to the flood victims of the Punjab: “No … at the start, they sent mockery and staged a show on their misery.”
She pointed out that “it is Punjab – not the Sindh – where the work that takes years elsewhere is finished in a few days”. She added that compensation checks had already started to reach flood victims whose surveys were finished.
“Those who receive relief for Maryam Nawaz and thanked her. Try to watch the Punjab without the objective of hatred and prejudices,” she concluded.
