Lahore:
The leaders of the Pakistan Peoples (PPP) Punjab party filed a deluge of complaints against the Punjab government led by Maryam Nawaz at a meeting with the President Asif Ali Zardari, who did not offer any concrete insurance to have resolved concerns, according to sources, according to sources
President Zardari, who was in Punjab for equestrian events, met on Wednesday the governor of Punjab Sardar Salim Haider Khan and the PPP parliamentary party at the Governor’s house. Former Punjab governor, Makhdom Ahmed Mehmood, was also present.
During the meeting, party leaders expressed their frustration in the face of what they called the Punjab government to honor the coalition agreements, in particular with regard to administrative issues.
Their grievances focused on the abuse presumed by the provincial administration.
Sources during the meeting have revealed that the leaders of the PPP deplore being treated as a “friendly opposition” rather than as coalition partners, neglecting their administrative concerns, even in the fields where they hold a majority.
They said that their constituencies had been neglected in development projects, deploring that government machinery transforms the deaf ear to their concerns, refusing to recognize them at all.
The leaders have urged Zardari to intensify the question at the federal level, saying that several previous meetings which have taken place in the recent past have not given results.
They also warned that the current arrangement was a spine on the PPP side in Punjab. A chief also informed the president of the aggravation of the security situation in southern Punjab.
President Zardari, according to the initiates, assured the leaders that he would take the question with the management of the PML-N, but reminded them that the coalition was formed by necessity rather than of choice.
He would have revealed that the problems would be resolved before the next budget while recognizing the PPP’s efforts to keep the PML-N responsible for their commitments. He urged party leaders to roll up their sleeves and work harder to ensure the return of the PPP in the province while amplifying public concerns.
However, a Punjab chief expressed his skepticism about insurance, claiming that this only indicated that provincial leaders had no choice but soldier in the same arrangement.
He said Maryam Nawaz was too enthusiastic about taking into account the advice – even his uncle, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
Nevertheless, he said that, at least for the moment, the PPP would not separate from the coalition for Punjab.
The meeting was followed by the parliamentary chief of the PPP, Ali Haider Gillani, Sardar Mumtaz Ali Chang, Mian Wasif Mazhar Raan, Rais Nabeel, Rana Iqbal Siraj, Qazi Ahmed Saeed, Mian Kamran Abdullah Mural, Syed Aamir Shah, Habibur Rehman Chang, Inam Bari, Nargis Faiz Malik, Neelum Jabbar and Shazia Abid.
