The Pakistan Peoples’ Party leader (PPP) and Minister of Sindh, Nasir Shah, warned that the party could separate from the federal government if the question linked to the canal is not resolved at the next meeting of the Common Interest Board (CCI).

Addressing the media following a meeting with the leaders of the Muttahida Qaumi (MQM-P) movement at the party headquarters on Sunday, Shah said: “If the question of the channels is not resolved at the CCI meeting, the PPP will separate from the government.”

He stressed that the question of the canal is serious for the Sindh and united people from the whole province. “On the question of the canal, everyone in the Sindh is on the same wavelength, and MQM also extended their full support to the PPP both in the Sindh assembly and the National Assembly,” he said.

Shah expressed the confidence that the question would be resolved, citing a strong coordination between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, President Asif Ali Zardari and PPP president Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. “I am convinced that the decision taken between the Prime Minister, President and President Bilawal will be final,” he said.

He warned that if the PPP leaves the coalition, the federal government may not survive. “We know that if the PPP leaves the government, it will not be able to continue. This is why we expect the government to keep its promise on the question of the canal. ”

A PPP delegation, led by Shah and including senior Waqar Mehdi and Saeed Ghani leaders, met the leaders of MQM-P Dr Farooq Sattar, Aminul Haque and others to discuss several political questions. During the meeting, the PPP asked MQM-P to withdraw its candidate from the next partial election of the Senate for a vacant seat.

Addressing journalists after the meeting, Dr. Farooq Sattar said that the MQM-P would consult its central committee before making a decision at the request of PPP. “A final response will be given after internal discussions,” he said, adding that the changes proposed to the local government system were also discussed at the meeting.
