Rawalpindi:
Discontent develops among the workers of the Pakistan Peoples (PPP) party in Rawalpindi to be sidelined during the celebrations of Eidul Azha, in particular with regard to selective meetings with President Asif Ali Zardari.
During a press conference, the president of the canton of PPP Rawalpindi, Malik Qasim Idrees, the member of the Punjab Council Banaras Chaudhry, Tauqeer Abbasi, Nasir Mir and Abdul Rehman Tokli expressed strong concerns concerning what they qualified as conspiracy to prevent dedicated workers from meeting the president. They specifically accused the presidential spokesperson and former MPA Aamir Fida Paracha of creating obstacles and of discouraging the members of the base to access leadership.
Party leaders said they were deeply disappointed by the demoralization of party and women’s loyal workers and alleged that a deliberate conspiracy had prevented the PPP allied organizations from meeting the president. They said that former Baitul Maal MD Aamir Paracha had not communicated the real feelings and grievances of party workers to leadership, which has affected the party’s unity.
The criticism was also directed against the repeated appointment of weak candidates to Rawalpindi.
