Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) should attend rain accompanied by thunderstorms, with a drop in temperature expected in various districts, said the meteorological service.

While most areas in the province are likely to feel dry and cold, the upper regions will see an intensification of winter conditions.

According to the forecasters, districts such as Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Buner, Malakand and Hazara are expected to receive precipitation with thunderstorms. Likewise, Mansehra, Kohistan, Battagram, Mohmand, Bajaur and Kurram are also likely to see precipitation.

The ministry also predicted snowfall in the superior regions of the province, in particular in the hilly regions, which could have an impact on travel conditions.

In the past 24 hours, Lower Dir recorded the highest precipitation at 11 mm, followed by Kalam with 9 mm, Mir Khani with 7 mm and Drosh with 6 mm.

Chitral and Malam Jabba each received 3 mm of rain, while Kakol recorded 2 mm. Saidu Sharif from Swat and Takht Bhai saw 1 mm of precipitation.

Snowfall has been reported in mountainous areas, Kalam receiving 5 inches and Malam Jabba recording 1 inch.

The authorities urged residents to take precautions against severe cold, while travelers heading towards higher altitudes were invited to remain vigilant for possible road disturbances due to snowfall.

Yesterday, a meteorological system causing rains was to enter Pakistan between January 31 and February 1, providing cooler temperatures and relief from the current drought period, the Pakistani meteorological department (PMD) has planned.

According to the PMD, the dry time has prevailed through Punjab, resulting in a gradual increase in temperatures.

Lahore and several higher districts of Punjab are likely to receive light precipitation in the coming days, which could temporarily lower the temperature.

The approaching rain system should restore a certain winter cooling, reducing daytime heat.

However, meteorologists warn that climate change has shortened the duration of winter this year, leading to unusually hot afternoons and colder nights.

Lahore recorded a minimum temperature of 7 ° C today, with a maximum planned to reach 24 ° C.
