President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif paid tributes to the Pakistani navy on Sunday for his contribution to national security.
In their separate messages on the Navy Day celebrated on September 8, the President and the Prime Minister recalled how the Navy during various wars with India protected the nation from the threats of the archival.
Zardari said the day is an opportunity to pride themselves with pride the daring exploits of our naval warriors and to recognize the vital role that the navy continues to play in the safeguard of Pakistani maritime borders.
He paid tribute to the martyrs whose sacrifices would never be forgotten and also praised the Ghazis whose firmness remained a source of national pride. “Their courage strengthens the determination of the whole nation,” he added.
The president said that the 1965 war reminded them how, with courage and resolution, the Pakistani navy wrote a golden chapter in history by hitting far in enemy waters. “The Somnath operation has become a symbol of audacity and competence, inspiring generations of future sailors.”
Since then, he said, the Pakistani navy has not changed into a modern and multidimensional force.
“Today, his responsibilities go far beyond preparation for combat to protect the roads of maritime trade to participate in international peace missions and help in the event of a disaster. This versatility reflects the professionalism of the navy and its unshakable dedication to the nation,” he added.
Prime Minister Shehbaz also paid tribute to the soldiers, officers and staff of the Pakistani navy for their determination, their courage and their professional performance in the defense of maritime borders and the interests of the country.
He said that the story of the Pakistani navy is full of bravery stories, adding that even after the 1965 war, the key role of the Pakistani navy in maintaining the balance of powers at the Omane sea is a testimony to its professional capacity and strategy. “”
