Islamabad:
President Asif Ali Zardari should contact a joint session of the Parliament in the coming month to start the new parliamentary year.
This will be Zardari’s second address in the 16th National Assembly. He spoke to the lower house on April 18, 2024 at the start of his first parliamentary year.
It will be Zardari’s eighth speech in Parliament as co -president of the PPP, during his first mandate as president between 2008 and 2013, addressed the joint parliamentary sessions six times.
According to sources, the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs began to prepare for the session and acquired data concerning the performance of the federal government during its first year.
They declared that in his speech, the president would discuss the economic policies of the government, the political situation and the national challenges. He will also highlight government achievements in the past year and will present suggestions to improve the political situation.
The four governors, chief ministers, heads of the armed forces and diplomatic representatives will attend the session. The key figures will also be invited to the joint session of the Parliament.
Under article 56 of the Constitution, the president addresses the joint session of the Parliament at the beginning of the parliamentary year.
