Yesterday, the Minister of Sindh, Ziaul Hassan Lanjar, advised Chinese nationals who asked the high court of the Sindh (SHC) against the alleged harassment of the police to respect standard operational procedures (SOPS) to respond to these concerns.
Addressing the media on Monday, Lanjar stressed that Chinese citizens should channel their grievances by the Chinese consulate or the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, according to protocols jointly designed by the Sindh government and the Chinese consulate.
“These petitioners have no direct investment in Pakistan, and their petition is not legally healthy,” said the minister. He added that he had asked the Inspector General (IG) to form a team to engage with the Chinese consul general in Karachi to solve the problem.
Lanjar reiterated respect for the Sindh government for Chinese nationals, but stressed the importance of joining official procedures. “We appreciate our Chinese partners considerably, but they must follow the SOPS established by the government in collaboration with the Chinese authorities,” he said.
The Minister also announced his intention to meet the Chinese Consul General to publish an official declaration and resolve the amicable concerns.
