President Asif Ali Zardari has convened the 12th session of the 16th National Assembly on January 13, 2025 at 5 p.m. in Parliament.
The session was convened under Article 54 (1) of the Constitution, in accordance with the powers vested in the President, Express News reported.
The Secretariat of the National Assembly confirmed this announcement.
The upcoming session, the first of the National Assembly for 2025, is expected to address crucial legislative issues and discussions essential to national governance. This will be the 12th session of the current assembly.
The government is also expected to introduce various bills during the legislative session. He would also table the current agenda for this session.
The talks between the government and the opposition will continue during the NA session which comes in the middle of the round of talks between the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and the government.
However, it appears that PTI’s negotiation process with the government faces many obstacles, especially regarding access to Imran Khan. Lawyer Gohar Khan and other PTI leaders have always emphasized the importance of direct communication with their party founder to finalize any demand or proposal.
The government’s hesitation or inability to facilitate such meetings not only delays progress but also fuels distrust between the parties.
