President Asif Ali Zardari met Chinese ambassador Jiang Zaidong on Monday to discuss bilateral and growing tensions with India after the Attack on Pahalgam on April 22.
During the meeting at Awan-E-Sadr, Zardari expressed his concern about the “irresponsible and aggressive posture of India”, warning that New Delhi’s actions constituted a threat to regional peace and stability.
The Chinese envoy reiterated the solid and proven links of Beijing with Islamabad, calling the two nations “Iron Brothers” and noting their support constant for each other during difficult moments.
Ambassador Jiang thanked Zardari for sharing Pakistan’s point of view on the evolving situation with India and ensured Chinese support continues to maintain peace in South Asia.
President Zardari also appreciated the constant support of the Chinese government in Pakistan in difficult times.
Earlier, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif thanked Chinese Prime Minister Li Qiang for approving Islamabad’s call to a credible and transparent international investigation into the April 22 attack in Jammu-et-Cachemire of Indian origin (IIOJK), which left 26 people.
The Prime Minister made these remarks at a meeting with Chinese ambassador Jiang Zaidong at the Prime Minister’s office in Islamabad, where he also expressed his gratitude to China for his constant support in the midst of regional tensions.
He responded to his best wishes to Chinese President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Li, and appreciated Beijing’s understanding of the position of Pakistan’s principles on the recent actions of India.
