GUJRANWALA:
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday, while appreciating Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif for the successful launch of various public mega projects across the province, said that after the end of its current tenure, the PML-N under the leadership of Nawaz Sharif would “achieve historic results in the upcoming general elections”.
Addressing the inauguration ceremony of the public transport system, the Prime Minister said the recent election results in Punjab reflected public confidence in the leadership of the PML-N.
“In the next three years, the outgoing PML-N government has a mandate to serve the people,” he said, stressing that it should work tirelessly under the leadership of Muhammad Nawaz Sharif.
He expressed optimism that based on hard work and initiation of development projects, the results of the upcoming elections across the country would be pleasing to the PML-N.
“The journey of progress and prosperity has just begun and we will move forward rapidly on the path of development. In the upcoming elections, with this hard work, PML-N will achieve historic results,” he added.
The ceremony was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohammad Ishaq Dar, federal and provincial ministers, parliamentarians, members of parliaments and assembly, relevant authorities and a large number of people.
The Prime Minister termed the establishment of a public transport system as a major initiative to facilitate the lives of city dwellers, in addition to facilitating other areas, and a key initiative to bring public relief.
He said the project was a gift from the Punjab CM which would transform the entire district, bringing immense relief to commuters including students, patients, laborers, lawyers and other people from different walks of life.
Nawaz Sharif initiated the development projects at a time when the country was plagued only by slogans and political maneuvering, he added.
With the launch of strengthening projects, Nawaz Sharif buried this kind of politics, the Prime Minister said, adding that the former Prime Minister and the Chief Minister launched road networks, health facilities and various other economic initiatives, thus opening a new political chapter during the 1988 elections which was still continuing under the leadership of the PML-N.
The Prime Minister said that history would remember Nawaz Sharif’s achievements with golden words, including the acquisition of nuclear power in 1998. Had this not been the case, the situation in the recent war with India in May would have been different, he felt.
In Punjab, he added, its journey of progress was moving at a rapid pace under the dynamic and young leadership of CM Punjab who continued the legacy of Nawaz Sharif.
He lauded the Punjab government’s initiatives such as construction of cancer hospital, launch of metro buses, clean Punjab, reduction of pollution, providing housing to the homeless, helping flood-affected people, providing missing facilities in schools, etc.
The Prime Minister said that all these works speak for themselves and, like the truth, cannot be ignored even by political opponents.
The Punjab Chief Minister, in her remarks, highlighted the key initiatives launched by her provincial government.
She said the country had witnessed immense progress and development under the leadership of the PML-N.
