Prime Minister to hold talks with Austrian Chancellor Christian Stocker to strengthen Pakistan-Austria bilateral relations

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif arrived at the Austrian Chancellery in Vienna, where he was received with a guard of honor, Pakistani television shared on X. He is expected to hold bilateral and delegation-level meetings with Austrian Chancellor Christian Stocker, focusing on strengthening ties between Pakistan and Austria.
The Prime Minister is accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Syed Tariq Fatemi and Ambassador to the Foreign Minister Amna Baloch. The visit marks 70 years of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Austria and is the first by a Pakistani Prime Minister to Vienna in over three decades.
Later in the day, the Prime Minister will attend and address the Pakistan-Austria Business Forum, organized by the Austrian Economic Chamber, where discussions are expected to focus on trade, investment and economic cooperation.
Prime Minister Shehbaz is expected to participate in a special UN event on the theme “Sustainable Development: The Path to Global Peace and Prosperity”, highlighting Pakistan’s commitment to multilateral cooperation on sustainable development.

He is also scheduled to meet with leaders of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization to discuss peaceful nuclear energy, the fight against narcotics, the fight against crime and sustainable industrial development.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the visit was aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and reaffirming Pakistan’s common commitment with Austria to dialogue, cooperation, multilateralism and adherence to the United Nations Charter.
The PMO statement said the Prime Minister will also chair a meeting of the Pakistan-Austria Business Forum, organized by the Austrian Economic Chamber, and visit multilateral organizations.
The visit marks the first trip by a Pakistani prime minister to Austria in over three decades, the last being undertaken by then-Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in 1992.
