Prince Harry has been criticized for his “unreasonable expectations” ahead of his UK visit.
The Duke of Sussex is expected to return to the UK next week for a High Court hearing against Newspapers of the press group.
However, during his visit, Harry will have limited police protection, despite a legal battle last year over taxpayer-funded security, which he lost.
NOW, Mirror reported that former BBC correspondent Jennie Bond had criticized Harry’s expectations and suggested that turning down an offer to stay at Buckingham Palace was a “mistake”.
She said: “I think he will be slightly annoyed that he won’t have full police protection, but it’s a step in the right direction as far as he’s concerned. I think it is a public relations mistake to deny Buckingham housing. Palace, where security is guaranteed and already paid for.”
“It seems unreasonable to expect police protection around a hotel simply because it chooses to decline a very attractive offer of secure accommodation.”
It is worth mentioning that Harry will come to the UK without his wife, Meghan Markle and their children, Archie and Lilibet.
Jennie noted: “I still don’t think he will feel comfortable bringing Meghan and the children here unless there is a guarantee of full police protection. And I suspect Meghan won’t has no particular desire to come back here anyway.”
Additionally, the expert also shared that Harry is not expected to meet his family during his stay in the UK.
She said: “I think we have given up hope of a meeting between Harry and his family during his visit to the UK. I imagine his days will be taken up with the trial, but if there is a chance of meeting his father, I suppose that’s possible,” adding that there is “absolutely no sign of reconciliation” between Harry and Prince William.
