Prince Harry looked visibly uncomfortable and annoyed as he joined comedian Hasan Minhaj on his podcast Hasan Minhaj Doesn’t Know.
The Duke of Sussex appeared on the talk show to talk about the work he and Meghan Markle are doing to educate children about the dangers of AI and social media.
Although the discussion covered serious topics, much of the episode was filled with jokes and teasing, making the prince uncomfortable, as analyzed by a body language expert.
Talk with The mirror, Body language expert Judi James said Harry seemed uncomfortable at times, as Minhaj’s quick, mocking humor seemed to catch him off guard.
“Hasan’s ability to mix serious, important messages with the kind of mocking humor that Ali G was known for appears, from Harry’s body language, to be an unsettling technique,” James said.
She added that Harry “can return one-liners quite effectively, but it’s here that his host seems to cross the line between exchanging jokes and laughing with Harry and making fun of him which sees Harry becoming increasingly uncomfortable.”
The expert added that Harry looked uncertain when the host asked him to do an American accent and joked about his book Spare, showing signs of awkwardness and frustration.
“Hasan here pushes his gags beyond Harry’s comprehension, leaving him no room to jokingly one-up the host.
“And it’s at this point that Harry seems to become genuinely concerned, turning to the crew to ask ‘Is this part of the problem?’ to know if he is encouraged or mocked,” she noted.
“Harry tells his host that he is “sweating” at this point and his discomfort seems obvious.
“When the host talks about his book Spare and refers to Harry’s ‘vulnerability’, Harry’s change in expression suggests that he thinks this is the part where they are talking seriously about his mental health, but the quote the host uses is about how Harry had to buy his clothes at TKMaxx, which again seems to catch Harry wrong-footed.
“But then his eye expression becomes wary and his footbeats speed up to hint at annoyance or impatience.”
