Prince Harry suffers setback ahead of Australia visit

Prince Harry received some surprise news from Australia ahead of his arrival in the country, where King Charles is head of state.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who stepped down as senior royals in 2020, have made the bold move, which could worry the royal family and King Charles amid a growing campaign against the monarchy.

In the latest setback for the Duke, the Melbourne Conference has slashed ticket prices for Harry’s keynote speech.

King Charles III’s youngest son, Harry, is due to deliver a speech on workplace mental health at the InterEdge Summit in Melbourne on April 16.

The event has now started selling tickets at a heavily discounted price as the days get closer. Organizers have issued new, much cheaper tickets to hear the Duke speak.

New tickets are said to be 50 per cent cheaper than the previous price and have been released for the Duke’s address.

This decision indicates that people are less interested in listening to the Duke.

Some have claimed the 41-year-old’s attempt to make money as a speaker in Australia is proving to be a setback, with tickets to the event now costing half the original price.

This comes amid reports that a petition is circulating the country with more than 39,000 signatures, questioning why taxpayers should fund their security and logistics during their private tours.

Depending on the details, participants can purchase the “Delegate” package for $997.00 or participate virtually for $498. Previously, only the $2,378 and $1,978 Platinum and Gold packages were available to potential guests for the two-day event.

The Delegate option is over 50% off the Gold package price and still includes access to all seminars and keynotes, as well as the ‘Conference Hospitality Package’, which includes morning tea, standing lunch breaks, afternoon tea and coffee and tea stations.

Harry rebranded himself as a digital security advocate after struggling to gain traction in Hollywood. The Duke will grace the lecture as a figure who “dedicated his life to the service and uplifting of communities”.

He will highlight the importance of our collective mental health in his global philanthropic and advocacy work.

The ex-royal recently appeared on the speaking circuit at the International Association of Privacy Professionals’ 2026 Global Privacy Summit in Washington, DC, for which he reportedly “won a paltry $50,000.”

According to the allegations, this was a real drop from the million-dollar speech price Harry and Markle had hoped to get when they arrived in the United States in 2020 after leaving the royal family.
