Islamabad:
A judges’ committee finalized the project of new rules of the Supreme Court which include the digitization and automation of the judicial system, said a statement published on Thursday.
A committee of four members – trained under the direction of the chief judge of Pakistan Yahya Afridi – proposed modifications to the rules of the Supreme Court, 1980.
The Committee includes judge Shahid Waheed, judge Irfan Saadat Khan, Judge Naeem Akhtar Afghan and judge Aqeel Ahmed Abbasi. Interestingly, the superior judges of the SC – judge Syed Mansoor Ali Shah and Judge Munib Akhta – are not part of the Committee of four members.
The Committee recommended that the digitization and an automated system in the procedural framework of the Supreme Court was recommended. He also looked for suggestions for bar advice and judges to improve judicial affairs.
The project was submitted to the chief judge and other judges of the Supreme Court for new deliberations.
According to the declaration, new reforms will be made to the Supreme Court to ensure rapid and transparent justice. The final project will be presented to the full court for approval.
