The interior field player of Baltimore Orioles, Luis Guevara, died, the team announced on Tuesday in a statement. He was 19 years old.
Guevara was the victim of a jet ski accident in Lido Key, Florida, reported Fox 13 Tampa Bay, citing team officials. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said that two jet ski with two people on board have collided with each other. The four people were sent to the water.

Guevara died later in a hospital, according to the station.
“Luis was a beloved member of our organization, and we are devastated following his tragic death. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends and teammates and we ask for their privacy in this difficult period,” said the vice-president and managing director of Orioles, Mike Elias, in a statement.

Guevara joined the Orioles in January 2023 as an international free agent in Venezuela. He was playing the Copstrame, the third basis and the second goal when he made his way through the Orioles Agricultural System.
He played for Orange Orioles in the Dominican summer league for two years. He made his debut in 2025 in Double-A with the Chesapeake Baysox of the Eastern League, but went down to the Birds of Delmarva shore of the Unique Caroline League and later in the Florida Complex League team of Orioles.

He struck .281 with 49 products produced and 41 interceptions in 114 career league games in the four teams.
