- Proton VPN has published new updates and features for its Windows, iOS and Android applications

Proton VPN has unveiled a major upgrade that promises to make its applications more intuitive, transparent and customizable.
To date, on April 3, 2025, users of Windows, iOS and Android of Proton VPN, and Android will benefit from new updates and features. These include a new elegant interface, customizable mobile home screen widgets and new improved profile feature.
New applications also provide a range of educational content to help users get the most out of one of the best VPN services on the market.
The new VPN proton look
Although more and more people are familiar with the advantages of using a virtual private network (VPN) in their daily life – whether it is better streaming, confidentiality or security – underlying software and its features may always seem quite intimidating.
As David Peterson, CEO of Proton VPN explains, this can limit the capacities of users, in particular those who do not know the technology, to benefit from what a VPN has to offer. This is exactly where Proton VPN’s overhaul comes into play.
“New VPN Proton applications facilitate user confidentiality protection more easily than ever to protect user confidentiality while improving transparency to explore new features,” Peterson said.
After launching a new, more intuitive home screen interface on Android, the supplier also decided to make these improvements to its iOS and Windows VPN applications.
The Windows application has received a complete overhaul to correspond to its Android VPN counterpart. A menu of redesigned parameters facilitates the scrolling of all advanced proton features, such as divided tunneling, a killing switch and port transfer. For the first time, you can also choose between a dark mode and a new light mode.
An improved profile tab may be the most relevant new feature (see the above image).
This allows paid subscribers to create personalized connection profiles, to choose their location, city or condition, server, protocol and favorite settings according to their needs.
You can opt for the fastest server in the United States to use Proton VPN to unlock Netflix abroad. Alternatively, you can choose a secure basic server and a stealth protocol if you worry about monitoring and censorship online.
Although the iOS application is also delivered with a profile tab, the new version brings the latest improved version to Windows and Android. The team is currently testing a first version on iOS, which means that iPhone users will not need to wait too long to take advantage of the same level of personalization.
Another exclusive feature for Windows and Android at the time of writing, Connect & Go, allows you to specify the website or the application you want to launch when connecting to a specific profile.
Although the team did not give Techradar de Chronologie, Proton said that the plan was to extend all these features to all platforms (iOS, MacOS and Linux).
