- Psiquantum to build uses of utility scale in Brisbane and Chicago with new funding
- The company expands the production of photonic fleas and develops barium titanate switches for the quantum scale
- Cooling and networking systems designed for data center style racks to support millions of qubits
PSIQUANTUM announced that it had raised $ 1 billion in funding from the E series to pursue its objective of building quantum tolerant computers with a million qubits.
The company plans to create sites in Brisbane and Chicago for large -scale prototypes and start working on public services systems.
Based on the idea that precious commercial computer computer requires an error correction, Psantum has concentrated its approach on photonic qubits.
Overcome scaling challenges
He believes that by combining quantum technology based on photons with the manufacturing capacities of semiconductor FABs, it can overcome the scaling challenges which continue to slow down progress in the field.
These include manufacturing, cooling systems capable of managing thousands of chips and reliable networking between modules.
“The construction of the real thing – machines on the scale of a million qubit -talls – will unlock the promise of quantum computer science,” said Jeremy O’Brien, co -founder and chief executive.
“We have defined what it takes from the first day, this is a major engineering challenge, not a scientific experience. We first touched on the most difficult problems – in terms of architecture and chips – and are now the best quantum photo chips of mass manufacturing at an American financial point.
“Almost nine years after our start, we pushed technology to an unprecedented level of maturity and performance,” said Pete Shadbolt, co-founder and scientific director.
“We have the chips, we have the switches, we have an evolutionary cooling technology, we can do networking, we have found the sites, we have the commercial and government support – we are ready to set up and build systems on the scale of public services.”
PSIQUANTUM has already built a high -volume manufacturing process for its integrated photonic chipsets, designed internally and manufactured at Fab 8 from Globalfoundries in New York.
It has also developed new electro-optical switches by including the titanate barium in its production of fleas.
These switches are considered to be essential for scaling up optical quantum systems and could also be applied in AI supervisors which require a high -speed and low power network.
At the same time, PSIQUANTUM designs cooling and control systems that resemble data center racks rather than traditional cryostats.
The company has already demonstrated networks between quantum cabinets using standard telecommunications fibers, which, according to it, is a requirement for large -scale deployment.
